Wymondham U10s v
Taverham
Wymondham Town United
travelled to Scole on a cold day to play Taverham in the first match of the
new year. Wymondham started well with some passing
play and put pressure on the Taverham goalkeeper with a series of corners. Jo
Andrews saw a good effort from a tight angle saved by the Taverham keeper.
Taverham were strong and had their share of attacking play, revealing a shaky
united defence when they tapped in during a goalmouth scramble. Wymondham
maintained a positive attitude and took the game back to Taverham. A through
ball from Antony Animba found Marland Barsby who shot past the keeper and
somehow managed to bounce and bobble its way in past two defenders covering the
goal-line to level the game going into half time.
Taverham started the
second strongly and tested the united defence. Wymondham responded with their own pressure but pushed too high up and were caught by
a long kick from the Taverham keeper, bouncing through the united defence into
the path of a Taverham forward who found the net to make it 2-1. Wymondham did
not give up and kept looking for an answer but in the end could not find a
reply. Taverham continued to pressurise the united defence and some good
saves from Antony Walshe kept the game within United's reach until they were
caught on the break at the end of the game to give a final
result
Taverham 3-1 Wymondham
