Wymondham Town Utd 2 Indies A 3 15/05/2010
For the last home match of the season, Town entertained title challengers Indies A, and another classic match was delivered by the boys! Town started very much on the front foot, and changed formation for this match and pushed Jacob Bush up front with leading scorer Henry Metcalf to really try and take the game to their opposition. It paid dividends early on as Henry & Jacob combined for Jacob to fire Town into the lead. The side looked really solid with Lewis Thurston's handling perfect, when called upon, Charlie Gavin partnered Luke Hunt at the back and they both defended with confidence and were not putting a foot wrong. Sonny Clarke was running midfield with a typically dynamic performance. Town on more than 1 occasion could have doubled the lead, but didn't take advantage, and would later pay. HT 1-0. The 2nd half began,Curtis Bell was introduced and was playing well, working hard and getting his tackles in, and play was even until, from a Lewis Goal kick the Indies striker charged down the kick and had the simple job of rolling the ball into an open goal. Play was now end to end, and Indies had improved but it was Town who struck next through Sonny Clarke, when he won a tackle drove forward and unleashed a great drive into the bottom corner, 2-1 Town. Town were now looking good until misfortune struck as a cross from out wide was well intercepted by Charlie Gavin, but incredibly the ball rolled into the bottom corner with Lewis wrong footed 2-2. Luke Hunt then burst through for what looked like a likely winner but somehow the defender for Indies made a outstanding block. The game was now destined for a draw, until with 2 minutes to go, Indies scrambled a winner, a unfortunate outcome for Town, as at the very least the boys deserved a draw. FT 2-3 WYMONDHAM TOWN MOTM - Sonny Clarke OPPOSITION MOTM - Lewis Thurston
